Cryotherapy or Cryosurgery is a highly effective and safe procedure that is used to freeze and destroy unwanted benign skin lesions. The Cryopen delivers exceptional results for the complete removal of benign skin lesions in as little as one treatment.
The Cryopen™ is an FDA and CE registered advanced cryotherapy innovation which delivers a fine pinpoint spray of liquid nitrous oxide at a constant temperature of -89 degrees under high pressure which allows the clinician to work within millimetre precision. This allows the nitrous oxide to be delivered directly to the treated area and not to the healthy surrounding tissue, which prevents any pain during treatment.

AFTERCARE ADVICE
PRE-TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
- Book in for a consultation with one of our Advanced Skin Therapists, you will be advised if we can go ahead with the treatment or if you require a medical diagnosis, which we can arrange and get results back within 24-hours.
- No anaesthesia is needed as the extreme cold causes anaesthesia allowing the treatment to be tolerable.
- The actual treatment takes a few minutes, you’ll feel a cold sensation which is not painful and similar to a small sting or ice-cold sensation. The actual appointment time is longer as we need to do a consultation and prepare for treatment.
- No preparation is necessary before treatment.
POST TREATMENT ADVICE
It is important that you do the following for the next 7-14 days (potentially 2-4 weeks depending on size and area) after your treatment or until skin returns to normal function:
- Wear an SPF30 sun protection or higher when outside
- Apply recommended soothing gel if required
- Refrain from picking or scratching
- Do not apply heat, avoid sun exposure or sunbeds
- Avoid soaking in water, avoid bathing, swimming and hot tubs
- Do not apply friction or rub against the area
- Although it is best to try to leave the treated area uncovered, a plaster or simple dressing may be applied if it is in an area which may lead to rubbing and aggravation. It is important not to pick at the crust as this may lead to scarring.
After the treatment you may experience:
- Crusting or scabbing
- Darkening of the lesion
- Heat or warmth around the treated area
- Blistering
- Erythema
